The latest in a series of floating exhibitions curated by Kenny Schachter.
This large scale group show will present a broad survey of works in painting,
sculpture, video and installation.
The present state of society has been dubbed the "anxious class"
in various publications. Corporate downsizing, the buzz word of the moment,
is resulting in wide spread job insecurity. We are repeatedly informed that
we will never earn as much as our parents did, nor could we expect a similar
standard of living. Gangs, violent crime, car-jackings, and drugs are all
cause for alarm. More potent strains of bacteria seem to be responsible
for the spread of disease on planes, phone receivers, and bathroom doors,
which, according to the CDC, require hand-washing at every turn. In this
environment, it is no wonder that we are all sick and tired. The art works
in this show will in some way reflect the condition that renders us queasy,
uneasy and in a constant state of uncertainty.
